The Waters United Methodist Church in Oxford, MD is asking for help. The building is in great need of new furnaces. As they face the cold winter months, they have found the furnaces unable to be repaired – and MUST be replaced. We all want to help – and if we share in the support – collectively we can reach the goal of thirty thousand ($30,000) dollars. The PayPal button links directly to the church account at 1880 bank and is only accessible by the treasurer. The fund will go directly to paying the vendor who steps up to do the furnace replacement. The $30,000 is based on estimates gathered by reputable HVAC providers in Talbot County. 15K per unit.
With YOUR SUPPORT we can help this congregation return to their building for services!!
A brief history:
The Waters United Methodist Church was founded in 1883. The first pastor was Reverend D.G. Waters. The parishioners originally walked four and a half miles to attend services at the John Wesley Methodist Episcopal church in Oxford Neck. In 1901 the church was incorporated as Waters Methodist Episcopal Church. Through the years, many ministers have served as pastors and community leaders. Today the congregation is composed of roughly 20 people. Many of the parishioners have moved from Oxford, but still contribute to this vibrant community church. Prior to Covid 2020, the services were attended weekly and many children and families participated in activities. The Waters Church has a choir, led by Miss Tish on the piano and is a local icon. Waters Church is famous for its food on Oxford Day every April as well as the Trustees Day, Ushers Day, United Methodist Men’s Day, United Methodist Women’s day, Homecoming, Bikers Day and the annual Leatherbury Friends and Family Day.
